The first lesson is normally starts with the controls lesson. This is to familiarise the new driver with the basic operation, use and in some cases location of the car controls, and is the beginning of how when and why we use them.
Starting with the D, H, S, H, S, S, M routine. This checks to make sure the Door is closed securely and safely. That car is secure with the Handbrake on. How to adjust the seat to the correct driving position with the headrest adjusted to correct safe position. Steering wheel where adjustable, set correctly. How to put the Seat belt on correctly and safely. Setting the mirrors with explanation of the difference in flat and convex mirrors and the awareness of the blind spots around you and others vehicles.  We then continue to moving off stopping and steering the lesson is set at the ability and level required for each individual pupils development and safety.
